The syllable “Ma” means mother in almost every language.

In Sanskrit, the ancient language of yoga, it also means the highest, most powerful and wise.

I created the The Ma Journey to help you become the "Ma" you want to be.

Finding vibrant wellness isn't easy

Do any of these sound like you?

  • You love your family so much that you don’t have time to take care of you.
  • You’ve tried Paleo/ gluten free/ dairy free/ Atkins and nothing lasts.
  • You’ve tried exercise, chiropractic and massage but your aches, pains and tension always come back.
  • You bounce from depriving yourself to binging to depriving yourself again, and you never lose the extra weight.
  • You feel like you’ll never have a body you love again.
  • If you’re pregnant, you’re nervous about your upcoming birth and postpartum, but don’t feel like you have the time or resources to get prepared and confident.
  • You have a lot of worry, doubt, and fear, which prevents you from being fully present for your loved ones, and for yourself.
  • You just. have. no. time.

YOU'RE NOT ALONE

1 in 3 women describe their birth experience as traumatic

20% of moms have postpartum depression and more report having increased anxiety

64% of moms confess their body image has gotten worse since becamming a mom

You're frustrated. Overwhelmed. Isolated.

You might feel like things will always be this way.

Hi I’m Jessica, and my life path is to make YOUR life path easier.

IMAGINE IF YOU...

  • had healthy eating routines you loved
  • lost the extra weight for good without depriving yourself of tasty treats
  • felt confident about birth and postpartum if that’s what’s next for you
  • had a short, unique yoga practice that kept your core strong and your body feeling great
  • easily relieve your own back pain and neck tension
  • could find your calm, clear center anytime, even amidst chaos
  • started living your life guided by your “inner GPS”
  • made nurturing, empowering choices for yourself every day!

Thank you for all the great classes, it was really excellent to feel strong and confident throughout pregnancy, knowing that I could make it through an intense yoga class kept me from being afraid to exercise and really use my body the whole way through.

I started doing Ma Yoga when I was 16 weeks pregnant. It was the best thing I could have done for myself.

Life happens and we get thrown off, and knowing it’s okay to go back and forth between the steps made it feel much more accessible to me. My back was in pretty bad shape - Achy, sharp pains...just overall UGH.

The rescue poses felt so relaxing I almost fell asleep.

After just doing Module 3, I feel looser and able to move without as much pain. I feel encouraged that with continued practice I can nip this back pain in the butt!"

I loved that it was broken down into small sections, and that it was a combination of videos, reading material and assignments. I printed out a few of the PDFs and keep them in my meditation spot. I really enjoyed the guided meditation about stepping out of the river. The program was immensely helpful and reassuing to me.

WHY I CREATED THE MA JOURNEY:

When I got pregnant, I thought I’d be happy and calm.

Wrong. I couldn’t believe how much there was to worry about:

  • Am I gaining to much? too little?
  • Did I just do damage by breathing in those fumes at the salon?
  • How will I be able to handle the pain of birth?
  • Will I ever get my body back?

Luckily I had my yoga practice and community!

But it was when my baby was born that I felt really lost. I was:

  • exhausted
  • depleted, low-energy
  • struggling to lose the extra weight
  • getting colds all the time
  • eating whatever was around instead of what my body wanted
  • dealing with new aches and pains, and diastisis recti (split abdominal wall)
  • convinced I’d never get my body, energy or my life back.

I thought I didn't have time to take care of myself.

Turns out, I just didn't know how to do it.

The old ways no longer worked.

Starving myself wasn't going to happen. I needed to eat healthier, and I didn't have time for complex recipes.

Long yoga classes, 20 minute meditation sessions just didn't fit into my busy mom life.

I thought, what if all of it could be honed down to its simplest form?

Eating healthy, doing yoga and meditation, taking care of ourselves - what if we could simplify it all?

Thus, the Ma Journey was born.

WHAT'S THE ITINERARY?

Step 1: Receive instruction in your focus area. With either Healthy Ma or Ma Birth, you’ll start by asking yourself: “Where do I want to be in six months?”

Then, you’ll take a six-week live course. If you choose Healthy, Ma, we’ll learn to dump diets and instead use simple recipes, as well as the WHAT, the WHEN, and the HOW of nourishing food routines to lose the extra weight, feel energized, understand how gluten/dairy/sugar/fat works in the body and end up with a customized plan to help us get where we want to be.

If you’re pregnant and you decide to do Ma Birth, you’ll start with a deep dive into all the pro’s and con’s of the choices you’ll have, led by Stefanie, an L&D nurse, Birth and Postpartum Doula, Sleep Trainer and more. She’s helped hundreds of couples transition into happy families, and she can’t wait to help you do the same!

Step 2: Find steadiness with a go-to yoga practice. I’ll make it easy for you to creat YOUR practice by starting with a single delicious, strengthening 1-minute sequence. Then, I’ll guide you as you hone it for your schedule, your experience level, and the change you want to create in your body and your life.

Step 3: Heal and strengthen. We begin to add in subtle alignment-based actions that will relieve your pain, tone your core, and help healing happen for YOUR specific challenges. No pain, no pain is our motto.

Step 4: Connect to your inner resources. Perfect if you hate meditation! OR if you love it and don’t have time. OR if you think you’re bad at it. Ma Meditation is different: it’s honed down to its simplest elements, so you can choose what connects you to what you need on any given day. In as little as 2 minutes you can drop in and connect to your best Self.

Step 5: Be the powerful co-creator you now are. Remember when you thought you didn’t have time to take care of yourself? Celebrate how far you’ve come and reap the rewards of your nourishing and nurturing routines! Now that you have all the tools, step into being the powerful co-creator you now are.

What if your new normal could be:

  • Clarity
  • Calm
  • Groundedness
  • Trust
  • Authenticity
  • Strength
  • Meaning
  • Vitality
  • Connection
  • Freedom
  • Creativity
  • Nourishment
  • Power
  • Possibility

This review is late coming but I’d give 10 stars if I could! Ma Yoga was a lifesaver to me during the last trimester of my pregnancy last year.

I had pretty intense lower back pain and used the 'Happy Back Practice' routine to help relieve the pain and regain mobility.

Jess was SUPER helpful, followed up and provided additional recommendations on how to get some relief.

I ended up using the short practice almost daily and still go back to it now, more than a year after delivery, whenever my back flares up.

I love that you provided encouragement to meditate regularly even if it’s only for a short time. And you provided structure for short meditation sessions. This is hard to find! I find myself meditation for a minute sometimes and just doing deep breathing much more often then I used to, even when I don’t have time for longer sessions.

I’m very list-oriented so I loved how the program listed the steps and then checked them off as you completed them. Very encouraging.

Thanks so much for developing this program and making it accessible online! I loved that it was so specifically tailored to the needs of pregnant women and moms.

To be honest, I forget how I even heard about the program. Obviously a gift from the universe!

"When we first started trying to get pregnant I had no doubt in my mind that I wanted to breastfeed, just seemed like the logical choice to me. Ironically another family member was pregnant at the same time and mentioned that it cost $3,200/year for formula, which I thought was funny, because I never considered the cost. During the course I felt like I had numerous "ah ha" moments. I really appreciated learning about the science of breastfeeding but also practical applications. Each person that I've shared with that I'm taking a breastfeeding course, says "You don't need a course, just put the baby to your breast, and they'll figure it out." I then respond with "how was breastfeeding for you?" The response is always the same, "It was horrible, my nipples were bleeding and cracked, and it was so painful," or "I tried and didn't produce enough milk." All I think in my head is, this is why you need a class.

Overall I would recommend this class to anyone, how could it hurt to have some more knowledge?"

When I took my birth class at Hoag Hospital, the nurse who taught it asked me if I was a medical professional because I was so informed

Nope, I was just finishing up my cert to teach prenatal yoga and I took a wonderful online birth class with Ma Yoga Living, which basically taught me all I needed and more...

I highly recommend the Empowering Birth class to any mom to be!

When I became pregnant a second time, I knew there would be no chance of making it to 5:30 yoga practice so I joined the Ma Yoga Living community so I could practice at home after my son went to bed.

I really appreciated the ability to pick a session based on length of time I had to practice, and being able to participate in prenatal yoga from home (there was no chance I could make it to a studio anytime except Saturday mornings).

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

The Ma Journey offers two different tracks: Healthy Ma and Ma Birth:

Healthy Ma

Whether you’re a mom, mom-to-be or busy nurturer of people and projects, if vibrant wellness is your focus, we’ll start with the live six-week course, Ideal Weight/Ideal Lifestyle Lab (I WILL).

You’ll discover the WHAT (easy recipes), WHEN (daily rhythms), and HOW (quick routines) of getting nourishing food into your body without living in the kitchen.

We’ll talk about gluten, dairy, and sugar, and what they do to the body, so you can make choices that are right for you.

We’ll explore Keto/Atkins/Paleo, what works and what doesn’t, and dive into one lifestyle routine that actually does help us lose weight and keep it off. We’ll talk about inflammation, digestion, and how to get more energy from your food and so much more.

You’ll receive recipes for food that takes 10 minutes or less to prepare and we’ll have coaching sessions to integrate and strategize.

You’ll awaken intelligent cravings and create a whole new relationship with food and your body.

Ma Birth

If you’re pregnant and prefer to focus on preparing for birth and postpartum, you’ll take our six-week live course Empowering Birth with Stefani Castro, Labor & Delivery Nurse, birth and postpartum doula, breastfeeding educator and Certified Ma Yoga teacher.

If you’re at all anxious about how you’ll handle labor, as well as the choices around it, and then breastfeeding and baby care as well as self care – we’ve got your back.

Empowering Birth is a comprehensive, non-judgmental all-you-need birth prep course that gives you the tools and knowledge and connection to your inner wisdom to create an empowering birth and postpartum.

After Your Live Course

Once you’ve learned all the pro’s and con’s of all your choices, gained tools and techniques and created your customized plan, the two tracks come together for the rest of the Ma Journey to incorporate routines that will support you in making your vision a reality.

We meet together weekly in our private Facebook group and our member area.

We’ll keep an easy rhythm:

Monday Moodivator email – Each Monday you’ll receive a short inspirational heads up and that week’s action steps.

Wednesday Workshop – We meet live mid-day PST on Wednesdays to dive in to our main topic for 30-60 minutes. Can’t make it? The video is always available within 24 hours of the session.

Friday Free For All – General Q&A on Zoom, and then unrecorded share time. Having trouble letting go of old eating habits? Worried about an injury or condition and if it’s safe to do yoga? Struggling with anxiety, stress, low-energy? Need some parenting or pregnancy advice, and want to know where to find more resources? Connect and receivesupport.

Our three easy ways of connecting:

  • Zoom for connecting live on your computer or phone
  • Private Ma FB group for sharing
  • The Ma Yoga Living Room, our member site, for your course materials
  • I get all my Ma Journey emails so you can always reply directly to me

You need about 1 hour per week to cover the material. The first section will be a little longer; the last four will be a little shorter.

The amount of additional time you spend on your routines and practices beyond that is totally up to you.

In the first 30 days, you’ll experience our first welcome sessions and the beginning of the live course in your focus area.

If within that time you decide it’s not for you, just let us know and you’ll receive your money back minus cc and processing fees.

I created this program for you!

If you were “good” at all those things, you wouldn’t need to pare it all down to simple, short, easy routines anyone can do.

I can’t wait to go on this journey with you!

ABOUT JESSICA

Jessica Jennings, MS, ERYT, RYPT is a yoga teacher, lifestyle educator, certified Feminine Power Transformational Facilitator and yoga teacher trainer.

In 2009, Jessica founded Ma Yoga® for Pregnancy, Motherhood & Beyond, an internationally registered prenatal yoga school and a growing, global community whose mission is to learn to change the challenges of this journey into opportunities to become our highest, most wise and powerful Ma Selves. More than 18,000 moms and moms-to-be have benefited from these unique practices and principles.

As part of her Masters in Exercise Science, Jessica spent six years developing and running a prenatal yoga program at Kaiser hospital’s Ob/Gyn departments. As a Lifestyle Educator, she saw the positive impact that the right kind of guidance and support has on moms and moms-to-be, and witnessed the beautiful collaboration of eastern wisdom and western medicine.

Jessica brought together leaders in the field to create Ma Yoga Living, an online community of  Ma Yoga® teachers, doulas, midwives, nutritionists, OB/Gyns, pediatricians, parenting and sleep training professionals, healthy lifestyle coaches and of course, moms, moms-to-be and those who love them.

Jessica loves using birth as a guru to understand and teach simple ways we can become powerful co-creators of whatever is gestating within us: a baby, a project, or a vision for who we are becoming.
